Overview: your pages, visits, sites and busiest hour at a glance.

How it works

  1. Pick a range

Today, the last 7 days, 3 months or all time. Analytics covers every page in that range.

  2. Jump to a section

Overview, Trends, Searches and Time are one click away at the top.

  3. Click to dig in

A day, a site, an hour or a search word opens those pages in History.

In detail

Analytics, in detail

Every number is worked out on your computer from the pages already in your history. Here is what each panel means and how it is counted.

Browsing statistics compared with the period before

Pick a range like Last 7 days and the Pages, Visits, Sites and Searches tiles show how much each one changed from the 7 days before. The earlier period is always the same length, right before your range.

  • Changes read like +12% vs previous period, or same as previous period.
  • All time has nothing before it, so the tiles show their usual notes instead.
  • Busiest shows your busiest hour and the weekday with the most pages.

Your focus score and how often you return

Focus is the share of all your visits that went to your top 5 sites. A high number means a few sites get most of your attention. A low one means you spread out across many.

  • Click a site in the list to see only its pages in History.
  • How often you return groups pages into once, 2–5, 6–20 and 21+ visits.
  • Consistency adds days with activity, your longest daily streak and your quietest weekday.

Top searches, read from your own history

Analytics finds the words you searched for in the addresses of search pages, like Google’s q= or YouTube’s search_query=, and counts how often you looked for each one.

  • A search you repeat 5 times or more is marked worth a bookmark.
  • Where you search shows which sites you search on most.
  • What you read about lists the most common words in your page titles. Click any term to search for it.

Rising and fading sites

Trends splits your range in half and compares the two. Sites with at least 10 pages that grew in the recent half are Rising, and the ones that dropped the most are Fading.

  • Each list shows up to 5 sites, with the change in pages.
  • Top sites draws a small chart of pages per day for each of your 8 busiest sites.
  • When you use each site shows the hours you visit your top 4 sites.

What else it does

  • When you browse

A weekday-by-hour heatmap, a time-of-day chart, and your weekday, weekend and late-night split.

  • Focus and top sites

Your top 5 sites as a share of all visits, plus which sites are rising and fading.

  • Consistency

Days with activity, your longest daily streak, your quietest day and pages per active day.

  • Top searches

The words you search for most, read from the search pages in your history.

  • What you read about

The most common words in your page titles. Click one to search for it.

  • Compared with before

Pick Last 7 days and each number shows the change against the 7 days before it.

FAQ

Questions about browsing analytics

Does it track how long I spend on each site?

No. Browser history doesn't record how long a page was open, so History Monk counts pages and visits instead. Times come from each page's last visit.

Where does the data come from?

Only from the history already in your browser. Analytics runs on your computer and nothing is sent anywhere.

Can I see one hour or one day in detail?

Yes. Click a cell in the heatmap, a bar or a day in the chart, and History opens with just those pages.

The wise search once. History Monk remembers the rest.
