How it works

  1. Turn on Chrome sync

Sign in to Chrome with sync on, on each device. That’s the only setup.

  2. Open Devices

Each device gets its own card, with its open tabs and when each was last used.

  3. Search and open

Type a word and only the matching tabs stay. Click one to open it here.

In detail

Devices, in detail

Devices shows what your browser’s sync already shares: the tabs open on your other signed-in devices, plus the ones you just closed here.

One card for each device

Every signed-in phone, tablet and computer gets its own card with its name and a count of its open tabs. Each tab shows its title, its address and when it was last used.

  • Times read just now, 7m ago, 3h ago, or a date for older tabs.
  • Devices with no open tabs are left out, so the list stays short.
  • Click any tab to open it on this computer.

This device is on the list too

The last card is This device · recently closed. It holds the same tabs as Recently closed, so everything you had open, here or anywhere else, is in one place.

  • Search covers every card at once, including this one.
  • A card disappears while you search if none of its tabs match.
  • The badge on each card counts the tabs that are showing.

If the Devices list is empty

History Monk can only show what your browser shares with extensions. If nothing appears, check that sync is turned on and that tabs are open on your other devices.

  • In Chrome, sign in with sync turned on, on every device.
  • Firefox doesn’t share other devices’ tabs with extensions, so this view stays empty there.
  • History Monk reads the synced tabs on this computer. Nothing is sent anywhere.

What else it does

  • Grouped by device

Phones, tablets and computers each get a card, with a count of their tabs.

  • This device too

A card for this computer lists the tabs you recently closed here.

  • No extra account

History Monk uses the sync your browser already has. There’s nothing to sign up for.

FAQ

Questions about tabs from other devices

How do I see browser history from my other devices?

Sign in to Chrome with sync turned on, on each device. Then open Devices in History Monk to see the tabs open on each one, grouped by device.

Does it work in Firefox?

Not yet. Firefox doesn't share other devices' tabs with extensions, so the Devices list stays empty there. Everything else works in Firefox.

Is anything uploaded?

No. History Monk reads the tabs your browser has already synced and shows them inside the extension.

The wise search once. History Monk remembers the rest.
