The keys behave the way they do in your file manager and your inbox, so there is very little to learn.

    Select history rows like files

Tick a row with Space, extend the selection with ⇧Space or Shift-click, and press ⌘A to select every result. Once something is ticked, a plain click toggles a row instead of opening it.

    • A bar appears with Select all, Filter selected only, Copy, Open and Delete.
    • Type selected: to see only the rows you ticked, or selected:false for the rest.
    • Press ⌘A again to clear the selection.

Right-click for open, copy and delete

Right-click a row for Open, Copy, Copy title, Copy title + URL and Delete. With several rows selected, every item works on all of them at once.

    • Open uses background tabs, so you stay in History Monk.
    • Copy gives one address per line. Copy title + URL pairs each title with its address, ready for notes.
    • Deleting one row is instant. Deleting a selection asks you to confirm first.

Escape undoes one step at a time

Esc never throws away more than you meant to. Each press undoes the most recent thing, in the same order every time.

    • Typed a search and ticked rows? The first press clears the search, the next clears the selection.
    • With the suggestions list open, Esc only closes the list.
    • / or ⌘K brings you straight back to the search box.

    FAQ

    Questions about keyboard shortcuts

What is the shortcut to open History Monk?

Alt+Shift+H on Windows and Linux, ⌥⇧H on a Mac. In Chrome and Edge, the browser's own History shortcut opens it too, because History Monk replaces the History page.

    Can I change the shortcut?

Yes, in your browser's extension shortcuts page: chrome://extensions/shortcuts in Chrome, edge://extensions/shortcuts in Edge, or Manage Extension Shortcuts in the Firefox add-ons menu.

How do I open a result without leaving the page?

Press Ctrl+Enter, or ⌘↵ on a Mac, to open the highlighted page in a background tab.

The wise search once. History Monk remembers the rest.
