Quick steps

Delete a search in three steps

  1. Open By group

Each card is one web search and the pages you opened from it.

  2. Find the search

Type a word from the search or a page to filter the cards.

  3. Delete and confirm

Click Delete N pages, then Confirm.

Before you start: add History Monk from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons. The Chrome Web Store version also installs in Edge.

Step 1: Open By group

Click By group in the sidebar. Each card is one search you ran on a search engine, with the pages you opened from its results. The search words are at the top of the card.

Type a word in the search box at the top to filter the cards. It matches the search words, and the titles and addresses of the pages in each card. Here, ramen finds the search best ramen in kyoto.

What is deleted

  • The search result page.
  • Every page you opened from it, as long as you didn’t also visit that page another time. Pages you came back to on another occasion stay.
  • Never pages from protected sites. They are left out of the count.

Questions about deleting a search

How do I delete a search and everything I opened from it?

Open By group in History Monk, find the card for that search, click Delete N pages and then Confirm.

Will it delete pages I also visited another time?

No. Delete only removes pages whose every visit belongs to that search. A page you also opened on another day stays in your history.

Why can't I find my search?

A group needs the search plus at least one page you opened from it. Check the range under Time in the sidebar too, since groups only come from that range.

The wise search once. History Monk remembers the rest.
